Families in Morocco
that have suffered a loss of the father or their primary breadwinner
and are too poor to care for their own children often choose to send
them to an orphanage for basic care. Yet resources at these
orphanages are also meager and overstretched, meaning that many
children may not receive the care and attention they need. Even
those who are able to stay at home usually cannot go to school.
So today, because of this poverty, separation from their families and a
lack of access to basic education a large number of children in Morocco
are at risk of becoming delinquent and a greater burden on society.
To address this need the Association intends to provide the remaining
family members and relatives with sufficient funds to help these
children return to and stay in their own family environment. This
support will provide these children with basic human needs such as
decent living conditions, good food, clothing, medicine and most of all
an education. Plus, the program provides for sustained monitoring of
the children’s well-being with a view to sheltering them and
preparing them to be productive and tolerant future members of Moroccan
society.
